Some remote filenames prepended with date information

I have upgraded to 3.66.5, but I saw this problem on the previous version as well.
I am using Windows 10 (English) as my client and connecting to a remote Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS (German).
If a remote file/directory is created or renamed using FZ client then everything is happy.
If I am looking at a file/directory that was created by Ubuntu then FZ client shows:
['nearly' month name with some screwy characters] [day of month] [time] [filename]
e.g. M%C3%83%C2%A4r%2011%2012%3A30%20wrenv.sh
M**r 11 12:30 wrenv.sh (** represent special characters that I cannot type)
It is not normally too much of a problem, however it does stop me copying directory structures to/from the server.
