The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is ....

#1 Post by Mr_Mister » 2008-07-01 21:28

Hey Filezillers,

"The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."

I keep getting that error pop up when I right-click and select "View / Edit" any txt, php, htaccess, html, etc... file on my webhost. I have notepad.exe set for editing, everything worked fine last week, it might the update.

I'm using Filezilla 3.0.11 on a Toshiba Satellite laptop, Win XP MCE, 1 gig ram, 120 gig hd, etc... pretty standard.

Any ideas? I've read all the FAQs and searched but didn't find anything.

Thx

What's the name of the file you're trying to edit?

I am using Notepad for editing .txt, .html, .php, and .htaccess files.

I've upgraded to Filezilla 3.0.11.1 and am still having the same problem on my Toshiba Laptop WinXP MCE. For some reason everything works fine on my Dell desktop, WinXP sp2, etc.. Works on one but not the other.

All patches and Windows updates have been done.

I too am having this problem. It worked fine, now whenever I try to open anything without having "Always use Default Editor" checked, it gives me this error.

Just installed version 3.1.0.1, but it gave me major problems during installation. Either way, the previous problem still isn't fixed.
