This is happening to me, even after re-registering both DLLs from an admin cmd prompt (64 bit Vista). Everything was working fine until today. I just applied SP2 to Office 2007 this morning. When I fired up FileZilla later, I got a message saying it couldn't display the Quickconnect bar (or something like that). The command menu was also missing. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled the latest version, 3.2.4.1. Now the Quickconnect bar and the command menu are back, but drag and drop is broken.

What does "broken" entail? The drag not working? The drop not working?

I'm getting the same error that tehjrow and filezilla_user reported:

"Could not determine the target of the Drag&Drop operation.
Either the shell extension is not installed properly or you didn't drop the files into an Explorer window."

This happens whenever I'm dragging a remote file from FileZilla to a Windows Explorer window (downloading). I always get a folder named something like fz3-12344695938400 (as described by tehjrow).

Try rebooting.

That worked. I had already rebooted once -- the uninstaller said a reboot was required. But when I installed the new version, it didn't request a reboot. So I didn't think it was necessary. Apparently it was!

Thank you!

Is there an updated version of FileZilla that doesn't require people to run command line commands so the drag and drop feature works right 'out of the box'?

Thanks!

Simply run the installer and click yes when it asks for elevation.

I am using Windows 7 Ult and it just starting doing this to me as well. I attempted to do what was listed for vista and it is not working. Is there something I am missing or have to different from Vista to 7? :?:

Something seems mixed up. The following should fix it: Uninstall FileZilla, reboot, install FileZilla, reboot.

Simply re-running the installer with Add/Reinstall components without making changes to the component list should re-register the shell extension. At least after a reboot it shall work again. The procedures of Vista (6.0) and 7 (6.1) are identical. Most probably this applies to the Desktop mode of 8 (6.2) as well.

No. I don't even have Windows 8, too bad of an operating system. I'm not touching it...

I have the same problem. Drag and Drop gives the above error on my Vista computer.
I guess your problem might be... you should run cmd as an administrator. I found this tutorial on this site:

Code: Select all

. Also video tutorial is available here

Reinstall FileZilla.

Just had this in Win10 after an update. Registering the DLL's did nothing. Reinstall fixed it.
