Automatic connection upon program launch?

#1 Post by watershipwoo » 2008-11-22 08:41

I have one website set up in the Site Manager and would like to automatically connect to it whenever I launch FileZilla. Is this possible? I know connecting is only two clicks away once I launch the program, but call it "economy of motion" -- or laziness, if you prefer!

Thanks for the great--and free--program! I find it most serviceable. Like many others, I'm a convert from SmartFTP.

boco, thank you for your post. Please forgive my ignorance, but I'm ALMOST lost. I can get the -c command line argument to work properly if I bring up a command prompt in the FileZilla Program Files folder and then type in -c and the path. It works beautifully, automatically launching FileZilla and connecting me to the proper path on the web server. But how do I create a one-click shortcut to this path? My command line knowledge is limited, and I have done some research online but can't find what I'm looking for. Is there a batch file I should be creating and saving to a convenient location, or is there somewhere in the FileZilla shortcut properties where I can save and launch this trick? Or something else I should be doing? Thank you!

Edit the shortcut to Filezilla. Insert the command line arguments at the end of the 'target' line.

Before: "C:\....\Filezilla.exe"
After: "C:\....\Filezilla.exe" -c ...

Whoo-hoo!! Thank you, boco! The shortcut edit worked like a champ. I thought I had tried this before, but I think I must have put the quotation marks in the wrong place. All is well now!

Here in the States, we are celebrating our Thanksgiving holiday this week. I am thankful to FileZilla, its forums, and YOU!

Best,

This is also a setting. Go to edit --> settings --> interface. In the main interface section (before the subsections) find "On startup of FileZilla:" and select "Restore tabs and reconnect"

Voila.
