Uploaded file permissions always default to 600

#1 Post by cow_helmet » 2005-04-07 16:44

Hi Folks,

I'm just getting into using FZ from using LeechFTP and I like it a lot. However, I'm running into this problem: every file that I upload defaults to a 600 permission. I've dug through the help file and this forum and I can't find a mention of this feature/drawback or even anybody else who is having this problem. Am I the only one? I can change the permissions manually, but on big uploads of many files of different permissions this will get prohibitively tedious.

Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Ben

this is probably going to be a server-dependent and operating system-dependent problem

OK, to test that, I transferred two files to the same server from the same computer on which I am using FZ: one using Leech and another using plain command-line ftp, and each of those files landed on the server with a 644 permission, which I can live with. A third file transferred with FZ shows up with 600.

FileZilla does not touch any permissions on the server. Both the standard cmdline ftp client of Windows and FileZilla should produce the same permissions.
If you want, you can manually change the permissions with FZ, but only if the server supports the SITE CHMOD command.

I just started to have this issue where most files I upload are being set at 600.

If I move a file from my desktop (osx) it will be 644 but files coming from Google Drive Stream are going to the server as 600.

Ideas?
