Fonts and visibility

#1 Post by josephmo » 2008-12-15 16:19

My environment is Unbuntu Linux 8.1, 64 bit version. I installed Filezilla, but when it opens up, the filenames, directories, etc. in the different viewpanes are hardly visible at all. They are almost transparent, and only those selected are visible. This does not show in any other application, including all the file managers I use on Ubuntu. This is really bad and to the point where it makes Filezilla not usable. Any ideas? I checked the Ubuntu theme for fonts, etc. but did not see anything problematic.

Known problem, already fixed. Since Ubuntu is on a 6 month schedule, you probably have to wait till April.

Or try to find something else. Too bad. I think I had the same problem with Fedora.

It's not Ubuntu 8.1. It's Ubuntu 8.10. Version numbers are not decimal numbers. For Ubuntu, they choose to make their version numbers for releases the year and month of the release date. So 8.10 was released in October of 2008. The next release is due in April of 2009, and will therefore be 9.04.

You could try downloading the source and compiling it yourself. I've done this on Hardy (8.04) and Intrepid (8.10). I've never had difficulties, but then again I use the default theme.
