FileZilla 3 Icons
Moderator: Project members
I agree its a beautfull logo but i think that the lack of conection with file transfer is a bigger problem than Eddan thinks ..
I think the tradicional use of arrows is a god analogy, but the post stamp is a litle too subtle perhaps ???
But if you have an idea use it, you already created a grat log, show us your new idea ^^

alexkovac - I'm also really impressed with your icon. I echo the other replies. Simple, elegant, and I really like the type. It is strangely close actually, to an idea I had a while back, but didn't put it out anywhere. In case it's useful to anyone I refined it a bit here, but it's still just a sketch.
Some notes:
- It addresses the file transfer angle (well, it would if the "files" were recognizable at 16px).
- Something about it seems too busy to me still.
- The type is garbage. I like yours.
- Feel free to steal anything from this sketch and incorporate it into your own ideas.

Re: FileZilla logo suggestion...
I like yours best, personally. Sleek and silky. I reshacked the main program and the uninstaller for the heck of it using your icon and a custom uninstall icon made from your icon because, quite frankly, the current "official" FZ icon looks so Win98 :Oalexkovac wrote:Hi,
Tried to make a suggestion for an new FileZilla logo & icon. It builds upon the existing FileZilla logo concept... I tried to make it more distinct. At the moment, it is a working sketch, open for your suggestions and anger (hopefully there will be some of both )

I have to use /NCRC switch with the uninstaller to get it to work now, but that's fine with me :3 The toolbar/etc. icons are Tango icons for Filezilla by sumowski from here on the forums I think.
alex, mind if I post the uninstall icon for other neurotics like me to use? :3
Be not known, seek shadows.

I've found this post by mistake.
I've designed my FZ icon some time ago to use it with RocketDock.
So why keep it for myself?
Just a couple of minutes ago, I've resized the icon to usual icon sizes, and for my surprise it looks good on 16x16 pixels too.

Hi people. Sorry for the absence and non-replying, moved from Europe to Japan... Took some time to settle down. Didn't do much of icon redesign, tho... sorry...Lunisneko wrote:alexkovac wrote: alex, mind if I post the uninstall icon for other neurotics like me to use? :3

alexkovac, your icon is gorgeous (plus i like the presentation of it in the pdf )
One thing that might be a problem is that the rippled border loses most of its effect on 16x16.
Another Problem might be if you have a (desktop)background-color like blue or green your eyes gona hurt if you look at the edges
Maybe a tiny black(or equivalent) border/outline would help??

Hi everyone!
Franz, thank you for kind suggestion. Please, take a look. I tried to address the problem of dissappearing border by reducing the number of perforations.
16px version
24px version
and the same versions as 256px blowups:
16px version as 256px blowup:
24px version as 256px blowup:
Any improvement?
Cheers.

Re: FileZilla 3 Icons
Hey guys.
Totally out of the blue here:
Hate me for this if you want, but I'm not fond of the Fz logo so I made my own one.
I use it as app icon now (on a Mac). I figured I'd share it with you guys. Use it if you like it, edit it, whatever!

Re: FileZilla 3 Icons
Hi everyone, long time no see.
This is a tiny update to the existing icon. A hi res version of it. I have tried to replace the existing one in the last Filezilla nightly. It looked OK.
The link contains a zip with .icns and .png files. I am sorry, but I am unable to generate .ico file. It would be great if someone could do that.

Re: FileZilla 3 Icons
Not a big thing. Just a small update to the existing FileZilla icon. The update is in reducing the number of "teeth" on the edge as icon gets smaller. It helps maintain the "feeling" of a stamp a little.

Re: FileZilla 3 Icons
Dear reader, dear alexkovac,
I use a high resolution display and it hurts my eye to see pixelated icons of software I love, especially if the logo gives rise to such a beautiful and simplistic icon. Thus I took the freedom to make a new iconset and icns file which contain all the icon variants in the required size.
The following steps lead to my proposed icons file:
1. Downloaded the FileZilla Logo in SVG format from Wikipedia
2. Assigned the SVG file the "sRGB IEC61966-2.1.icc" color profile using Inkscape
3. Used Inkscape command line tool to export the rasterized logo to all the logo sizes of 128 pixels and more
4. Used iconutil command from Apple to decompose the FileZilla.icns nowadays distributed with FileZilla client
5. Used iconutil command from my Mac to compose the FileZilla.icns from the original icons images of the smaller sizes and the newly generated images of 128 pixels and more.
I uploaded the icon file and some more stuff on my GitHub page: https://github.com/fabianegli/FileZilla ... resolution
I also offer to do the same for the uninstall logo, if you give me access to the original SVG file.
Sincerely
