Help with cgwin (for translation)

#1 Post by evolution » 2004-05-03 22:10

hi,

Only today I started looking into translating FileZilla to Tamil. (i don't know if the language is supported by FileZilla though...) I went here: http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/misc/T ... 0Guide.htm . Downloaded and installed tortoiseCVS, cygwin, minGW. Completed step 3.1 successfully, but got stuck at step 3.2. I simply don't know how to "change the current directory to the source/LanguageDLLs subfolder (use / instead of \ inside Cygwin).
Now enter ./makelangfiles.sh and follow the instructions."

Pls help. Tks.

Hi evolution and thanks for wanting to contribute!

Say you checked out the Filezilla source in c:\filezilla. Now, in Cygwin your c:\ partition is (hopefully) automatically mounted, so you should be able to access it in /cygdrive/c. So in this example I would go:

Code: Select all

cd /cygdrive/c/filezilla/source/LanguageDLL
Having said that, I would recommend waiting for FZ3 before translating. FZ3 will not only be much easier to translate but if you translate the current version of FZ you could end up not getting your translation released as the developers haven't planned any new 2.2.x releases!

FZ3 is said to be released later this year.
