FileZilla 3 beta's feature list, known bugs, etc.
Don't you think it's kind of weird to release it out of the thin air without saying even one word about what's new in it?
I'm not saying I expect pages of lists, but at least some basic highlights...
Give us motivation to try it even though it's a beta...

lwc: Not much new despite the ability to run on multiple platforms. And it wasn't out of thin air, I've talked about beta for quite some time in the development diary and also on irc.
Anyhow, here the highlights:
Anyhow, here the highlights:
- Cross-platform
- Directory listing filter
- Lots of missing features
- Likely lots of bugs
Well, surely you don't expect everyone to read an entire diary instead of just getting a basic list...
Anyway, by "lots of missing features" did you mean from v2 (a good thing) or from what you promised to add in v3 eventually (a bad thing)?
And finally, has v3 made any progress with SFTP and Ascii?

You should bring that issue up with the PuTTY developers, as I'm just using their code. And finally, has v3 made any progress with SFTP and Ascii?
So what are the missing features from v2?
I don't think it's Putty's territory. Here's what I wrote back then:

Maybe step 3) has something to do with Putty but surely not the rest. You just need to:
1) Add a per server setting of whether the server uses Unix's EOL characters (LF [10]) or Windows' (CR/LF [13/10]) ).
2) Detect upon connection (and show us too) the server's SFTP's version.
3) If it's >= 4, specify a parameter for ascii files ("SSH_FXF_TEXT").
4) If it's < 4, do the conversion yourself (based on step 1)!).
And to save us all time, at least add step 1) and 4) (just assume the SFTP's version < 4) and then start working on 2) and 3).
I've created a wiki page for FZ3. Please check it out and feel free to edit it as you like.
Are you talking about me? I'm guessing this is about http://filezilla-project.org/wiki/index ... on=history for those that don't get the context.lwc wrote:There's a whole bunch of settings about firewalls and proxies and you can simply right click any file and click edit. Yet you keep removing those features from the feature lists and write them as feature requests.
First of all, it was botg, the main developer of FileZilla (aka codesquid on the wiki), that wrote proxy + firewall and "edit with Notepad" on the wiki. My guess is that he knows everything about FileZilla as it's him that programs it.
Anyway, in FileZilla 3-beta1 atleast I'm not able to edit files and setup proxy.
Oh...the page made it sound even v2 doesn't have it.botg wrote:FileZilla 3 is a complete rewrite, started from scratch. Using an entirely different toolkit. It takes a lot of time to readd every feature.
You should divide v3's none new features (i.e. v2's features) to "already in v3" and "will someday also be in v3". That would make it much more clear.
As for the confusion, the history said Ednan did the changes.
