Will LIST support actually be dropped?

On the roadmap (dated from 2015), we can read:
Support for the LIST command will be removed. In its place MLSD will be used as defined in RFC 3659. The problem with LIST is that its output isn't specified. As such it is impossible to reliably obtain directory listings using LIST. MLSD on the other hand uses a well-defined listing format. MLSD has been introduced more than 8 years ago, by now all server administrators had have more than enough time to upgrade their servers to be MLSD capable.
But MLST/MLSD seem still not supported by IIS, at least not out of the box. (I have posted a question about it on serverfault.)

So is this upcoming change still actually planned?

That's an old April Fools post, not an actual roadmap. However, some of the points will become eventually reality, e. g. the imminent drop of the 32bit version.

I don't see the LIST support in FileZilla going away anywhere soon. Would break way too much stuff.

In the coming rewrite of FileZilla Server, LIST will simply be an alias for MLSD.

Perhaps once the new FileZilla Server is out, it's time to drop LIST from the client as then there would no longer be any excuse to not use a modern server ;)

Maybe, but forums would explode. Hope you have set up your last will...

How about "unsupported"? No help with LIST.

Worst, I have read the end note of the roadmap, but I have not gotten it...

Anyway, the TLS point is not far to have become true too, with the warning about unsecured FTP.

About not switching to Filezilla server, there will still be the excuse of not having the choice due to provider restrictions. (But that is not my case, I have full access to the server. I have just not investigated using Filezilla server instead of IIS for FTP.)
