quota for users

#1 Post by gnauck » 2004-03-16 08:04

Hi,

first a wanna say thanx you for this great and free FTP server. Only thing im missing at the moment are user quotas. I wanna give some users only limited space (eg. 100MB). And Windows support for quota sucks. Even in 2003 server version. Would be very cool when this feature would be in one of the next versions.

Yes, this would be a very nice feature to have in the awesome FileZilla Server. Just to specify it a little bit more: it would be really nice if you can set user quotas in general and on specific directories, as well as user quotas in terms of network traffic (quotas per week for instance).

I totaly agree to Jack. In addition it would be good if you can select
different Logon Messages to different Users and/or group.

I totaly agree to all of them. For me, the disk quota per user is essential.

Yep ! Quota configuration user/group/server-wide would be really appreciated ;)

I'm concerned about user quotas as well. One possibility (on Windows server 2003) is having the zillaServer service run with a userid (instead of the local system account). Then you could set a file quota for each drive allocated to zilla. This would be a "global quota" affecting all ftp users, but would help prevent a drive from filling up and crashing other systems.

Does anyone know how to setup the filezilla service to not-run as local service?

Click Start, select Run...
Enter 'services.msc' (without quotes)
The service control panel opens
Double-click the 'Filezilla Server FTP Server' (what a name  )
Tab 'Log on'
Log on as - This account, then enter the account data
Press OK

Hello,
we just released a new tool called QuotaZilla that manages the FileZilla Server (R) quotas.

You can try it for free at:
