It looks to me like the FileZilla translation drive is managed rather informally, am I right? A translator basically downloads the partial translation of his language, adds some translations, and e-mails it back. So, how do you ensure that there aren't more than one translator busy on a single language file at the same time? How can a new translator determine whether an existing translator is busy with a translation of FileZilla?

How do the site admin handle conflicting translations? Or do they simply assume that the latest translation is the best one, and overwrites all previous ones with the latest file?

Its safe to assume that translations which are in good shape already have an active translator.

In case there is a conflict, I let all involved parties know of each other so that they can coordinate their efforts.

I have been patching up the ro_RO Romanian translation. How should I proceed with the project details? Just add my name in there? Or must I contact the person who translated before me so he can submit it to you?
Thanks

Best option would be to contact the Romanian translator so that he can integrate the changes. If he is unresponsive, send it to tim.kosse@filezilla-project.org instead (beware, direct submissions are only applied shortly before a release, so there a long reply time is expected)

Hello,
while checking our translation I've noticed that the error messages in CCommandLine::Parse() are always shown in English. IMHO it's because CFileZillaApp::ProcessCommandLine() is called before CFileZillaApp::LoadLocales().

(BTW I also found that the -v switch doesn't show anything unless I redirect the output (tested on WinXP command prompt), is this expected behaviour? Tested both latest stable and latest nightbuild.)

Regards,
Michal

-v is intentional.

Hello,
if anybody cares I've written a small script to check keyboard shortcuts (those created with &) conflicts on dialogs etc. Info here. Sorry, it's probably too hard to use for non-programmers.

Sounds interesting. Have you yet seen http://svn.filezilla-project.org/svn/check_po_file/ ?

It's a related script that checks translation files.

Not yet, but I'm definitely going to try it, thanks. I'm currently aware about two generic packages for checking po files: gettext lint and translate toolkit tools. (You probably know them already.)

I would like to suggest some changes for the German localization and attached a modified .po file. Most changes are related to grammar mistakes.

A few pages back there was a discussion about how to translate "unedit". I think "Bearbeiten rückgängig machen" is not a good translation for it. For me, it implies that my changes are reverted. How about "Bearbeiten beenden"?

By the way, should "Wrong opState: %d" (ftpcontrolsocket.cpp:1581) really be translatable? Most debug messages are not translatable.

(Should anyone find this useful, I am...)
Submitting some corrections for the GREEK translation (typos, spelling, grammar, syntax, semantics), plus adding missing translations based on the template for FileZilla FTP Client version 3.6.0.2

I am attaching the edited el.po
el_v3.6.0.2.po.txt
Edited el.po file (based on the template for FileZilla FTP Client version 3.6.0.2)
(343.07 KiB) Downloaded 657 times

and the "compiled", ready-to-use el.mo
el_v3.6.0.2.mo.txt
el.mo file based on my el_v3.6.0.2.po
(229.32 KiB) Downloaded 666 times

(don't forget to appropriately rename the files).

(BTW, does anyone know of an effective way to get those corrections/addition "propagated" to the official greek translation, 'cause mailing them to Tim sure didn't work out for me :P)

The translators email address is in the .po file in the header section. Please contact the translator directly.

Hello!
I'm part of a team (http://www.softaragones.org), whose aim is to create software localizations in our language (Aragonese, ISO code: an). We have been working in the last weeks in the translation of the Firezilla .po file, and we e-mailed the po file to Tim. As I'm not sure about the procedure, I'm attaching it here too. Please, tell me if we need to do something more to incorporate Aragonese localization.
Best regards,
Juan Pablo
