Finding / Deleting Hidden Files

#1 Post by BefuddledInBoston » 2011-04-27 14:11

So, I have a problem. I just bought a new laptop to replace an older one (about 5 years old). My intention had been to toss the old one out, as it is a Dell that frequently blue-screens and it has been a major pain in the ass. Problem is: my wife wants the computer.

Why is this a problem? Well, first of all, she is a computer technologist... secondly, I frequently visit sites that show something other than PG materials.

While I frequently use the delete files control on my browser, my brother informs me that there will be lots of files hidden below the surface that will show files I have downloaded / watched... and that even though I have deleted them she maybe possibly WILL find them.

I need to know if there is a way I can find and delete these files... or if there is a software product out there (preferably free, as I am unemployed) that I can use to discover these hidden files and delete them from the computer prior to handing it over to my techie wife.

Please, guys... HELP!

This is a social problem. I recommend talking to your wife.

I wonder what his marriage vows were .. to "browse, dishonor and lie"

This has to be the most off-topic post i have ever seen :smash:
