Using FileZilla with WinME?

#1 Post by Ottmar » 2006-10-26 10:07

Hallo,

i tried to use FileZilla_2_2_28 with WinME, but it did fail.

In the docs i read, that FileZilla works only with Win2000/XP and or
that i need to update some DLLs with FzDLLUpdate.exe.

But I didn't find these FzDLLUpdate nor am I sure, weather this will make
FileZilla to Work under WinME.

Can you help me to run FileZilla under WinME?

Thanks a lot and please be patient, if my english is incorrect, because
I'm german.

Greetings

Ottmar.

Windows 9x/ME is no longer supported. Please update to a more modern operating system.

Not recommended due to security vulnerabilities in old versions. Or well, actually it doesn't matter. Windows ME has so many huge holes, adding a tiny one by using outdated FZ versions makes no difference. No risk no fun ;)

Actually, it is possible to run the latest version on ME. For whatever reason, the makers of WINE (UNIX application to run Windows applications) compiled it and posted binaries for Windows, so you could install a Windows compatibility layer on top of Windows and turn it to Windows 2000 mode :)

I had No problems with WinME ... but WinXP, no luck

I personally had no problems running FileZilla with WinME. I did it for years??? I believe I did have to use an older version, like 2.2.28???

Now, I recently updated to WinXP and am having no luck uploading files. I can log into any ftp location, download, delete, and move. But when I try to uplaod FileZilla locks up at about 37% upload of the first file every time.

It is quite weird, actually, I am able to upload to a GoDaddy account with no problem, only EVERY other account I am having trouble.

I did not have any of these problems with WinME at any account location.
