Link opens to an error page - why?

#1 Post by Ryan11 » 2007-05-23 15:53

Hello:

For the sake of my question, lets say the website I'm trying to develop is "www.hats.com"

So, with FileZilla I upload the main page with the file name "default.html". That was successfull.

Then, I make a link in my main page designed to be opened into another page. So in this case it will open to http://www.hats.com/stories/

Considering the above, I upload a file for the new page I want open in a new window and I name the file "stories.html"

Ok, so the link works in that it opens to the url I designate - but the page I *uploaded* on File Zilla does not load, only an error message loads!

And this is my stumbling block... Why hasn't the "stories.html" registered?

Thank you,

Ryan

Not a FileZilla related question.

Botg is right, this is not a Filezilla question. This is not an html discussion forum. That being said, to solve your issue and prevent this discussion from descending into a debate about whether or not this is a Filezilla problem, your link points to http://www.hats.com/stories That means it actually points to http://www.hats.com/stories/index.html Your link was to a folder, not a file. Your link needs to point to http://www.hats.com/stories.html in order to view that file.
