So new to this and feel sooooo dumb

OK i am going to try and explain my problem as best as I can. PLEASE bear with me.. Ok I have been building a site and the program I was using was HORRIBLE. So I got a new one that is AWSOME. But I have to upload it to my server through ftp. Ok well when I got Filezilla loaded and pulled it up. It has all the information that I already had on my website. I want to DELETE all that so I can add the new layout But have NO clue what I am doing.. Can someone PLEASE help me.. Thank you in advance. Or even just point me in the right direction..
