Newbie needs help! :( PLEASE HELP!

#1 Post by sabakazemian » 2009-01-30 18:40

Hello:

I'm basically going insane because i have no idea what is going on.

I'm trying to update my website by deleting the old file and putting a new folder using filezilla.
When I go check if it has been updated by typing the address, the ftp error comes up.

I believe I've deleted files that I shouldnt have on my server.
What i have right now is file: aspnet_client and _db_backups (which i can't delete, won't let me)
and plus the file which my website.

Can someone PLEASEEEE tell me what is going on and what i'm doing wrong? :(

THANK YOU SO MUCH,
Saba

Not exactly, as every hoster is different. It looks to me like you deleted too much. Contact your hoster for assistance, we only support the pure file transfer here, and I fear you won't get detailed help.

Moving to Offtopic, no issue with Filezilla.
No support requests over PM! You will NOT get any reply!!!
FTP connection problems? Please read Network Configuration.

what are you using for your website? html handmade? or a cms system/blog program?

try to be more specific.
And learn to use the right terms so we can understand.
there is no point calling up a "folder" if there isnt any file called index.html or index.php in it, so i am not sure if you mean "file" or "folder"
A bit vague.
db backups is backed up infop about your database (db) - if you are using a blog, forum or cms system then you will probably need a backup and this was created by the cms automatically. Why should you delete files you didnt make before investigation what they are?
if they were on the server first time you logged in then they are from the hosting and shgould be there - removing them may make your website not work
