thanks for the hint, out of habit i used the explorer for the network shares. I didn't know that with the elevated rights, but at first glance it looks troublesome (not saved on restart, etc.). i will try it out.

Connecting shares in an elevated command shell via "net use" should stick. There's the /SAVECRED command parameter to store login credentials for the shares as well (I think that's not available on the Home version).

Also note that shares connected in the Admin command line while being elevated are invisible in Explorer. Explorer can only display normal shares.

thanks for your help, appreciate it

I used the cmd line with admin rights (windows user account = xsadmin)

tried also once with /SAVECRED param and via the other command "cmdkey" to store the credentials.

the filezilla-server service is runing under the same user account. and they are also the same credentials for the smb shares.

sadly that did not work :(

i then found a tutorial to use the cmd line as "NT-AUTH\SYSTEM" with the use of the MS SysinternalsSuite. This way it works. didn't change the fzs-service user. the disadvantage of this is that it is not saved on restart. The net use values are still present, but no connection to the server is made until they entered again in the cmd line.

for me it looks like the service is still running under the system account and not with the user account. but i'm in no way an expert in this.

When, in the Windows Services Control Panel (services.msc), the server is set to run as a different user (set on the "Log On" tab), it does not run as SYSTEM anymore. There is also the "Right Management" tab in the server settings where you can check the service user account: "The server you are connected to is running as ...".

I battled with Windows networking problems since the IPX days. It is very finicky and fragile. :(

I can live with that, at least it works. the vm shouldn't restart too often either. and maybe i can still create a scheduled task to automate this.

Thanks alot again for your help.
