changing password filezilla

I have just started with filezilla. I entered a password, but now I can't log on any longer.
I suspect I used a password with prohibited characters, but I can't change the password because I can't log on.
I get the message:

Protocol error: Auth failed, closing connection. Connection to server closed. Trying to connect in 5 seconds...

Then the whole things starts again and never stops.
But without connecting to server 127.0.0.1 I can't use the edit menu.

What can I do?

Edit 'FileZilla Server.xml' and remove the password.
