As you can see its taking up to a Minute for it to completely initiate the file and for me to be able to log in, its like i click on a file and then it waits before it asked me to log in and i dont know why its saying Anonymous user everytime when i use my user name and password, but when i click on a file its taking a while before it loads up for me to download.

Looks like a bad client to me, possibly internet exploder. Try using a real FTP client.

The many failed login attempts trigger the anti-hammering (can't be disabled) that purposefully slows down attackers.

What FTP Client do you suggest ? And how would that work being I'm using my pc as a web server ?

Try FileZilla client.
And how would that work being I'm using my pc as a web server ?
Just fine, web servers and FTP are different things, totally independent.

If you can reach your HTTP server with that http:// address, then you can reach the FTP server with the ftp:// one, provided that
-FTP server runs on the default port (for non-default port must be specified);
-configuration (port forwardings etc.) is correct.

Ok i got that to work, but im thinking of something else and im sure you can tell me if it can be done :), i would like to give out my ftp:// but i would like after that user logged in i would want it to redirect to my website instead of the Directory, that way i will know when someone comes to my site and not just when they download something. so is there a code in the files that would allow me to to redirect from the server to my http:// site ?

hi, its still not working out the way i need it too, i have a page set up so when people come to my website they have to log in first thing, before they can move on, and when they try to log in it pops up another login window and when you click it i can see its saying anonymous and password is incorrect when they have put it in right the first time, it does the same thing for me when i do it and then if it dont let me through it is so slow giving me the option to log in again when i click on the button to log in,

All i want to do is send people to my site with there log in info, and when they get there they log in and go inside the browser and download what they want

this is what i have set up as far as log in an redirecting.

first they log in on http://geturs.dyndns.tv then after they log in it brings up theFTP page-- ftp://geturs.dyndns.tv:56000 but when they get there, when they select something to download it goes back to the http:// and filezilla will tell me what they are downloading. im trying to make it so i will know when they log in and when they download and not just downloading, because i have streaming video there aswell, and thats the purpose of having them log in from the main page, instead of doing it when they are downloading the actual file. i have also tried using the ftp://geturs.dyndns.tv:56000/videopage.html but when the page pops up it wont stream at all, so there for i have to use http://geturs.dyndns.tv/videopage.html and the stream will work fine, but i wont know whos streaming.

If I understand you correctly, then FTP is not designed for what you want.

FTP is only for simple file transfers. It cannot redirect back to a website. And you cannot post form data to an FTP server.

Something more like you want would be some sort of CGI script that increments a database counter, then redirects to the FTP server to get the actual file. This is what most sites are doing when they say things like "your file will start downloading in 3 seconds". They added 1 to their download count, and then redirect you to the file. But this increment is done with a CGI script. PHP, Perl, ASP are common tools for handling this.

You could take a look at HFS.

So this program would do the things that FileZilla can't do for me ?

Also when someone or i try to log in, FileZilla is logging that person as anonymous first, then after it sees theres no password then it pops up the users name and then tries the password and then logs them in, the whole process is taking atleast 45secs to a 1min or longer sometimes
