Cannot see children websites set-up in Contribute

#1 Post by patmac » 2010-02-10 18:13

Asking for some help please with user / group permission set-up in FileZilla server. Here is the situation. We are using the Adobe Contribute Publishing Server and Contribute client for webpage authoring. We are using FileZilla (0.9.33.beta) to help set-up website and user permission access to ensure the website admin has access to absolute root (parent)....and to ensure the department writers only have access to only their department websites (children websites). We create a 'root' (parent) group in FileZilla with all 'shared folders' Files and Directories options flagged for the parent website administrator. We then set-up groups in FileZilla for the children websites...also with all options in the 'shared folders' flagged. However when we set-up these users in Contribute, Contribute spits out the error "Contribute cannot see the files in the website folder".....which is basically saying Contribute cannot see the child websites (even though they are set-up properly in the Group Shared Folders section. I strongly sense we are not flagging or unflagging the correct Files and Directories options correctly. To reiterate...our goal is to ensure the website (parent) admin has access to root and all children websites........and that the department writers only have access to their department websites. (as a sidenote.....if we give everyone access to root....then Contribute can see all the children websites.....but this also means the possibility exist that the department writers can connect to the other department websites besides their own). Thank you in advance for your help. Patrick (user ID patmac)
