FileZilla Server on Windows Server 2008 R2?

#1 Post by kripple » 2010-07-26 18:35

I have done a few searches on the FileZilla Forums and have found reference to running the FileZilla Server on 64bit Windows XP but not on Windows Server 2008 R2. Will FileZilla Server function correctly on Windows Server 2008 R2 (which is only available in 64bit versions)?

If that OS incorporates WOW64, then there should be no problems.

Yes, if the Server can run 32bit applications, all is fine. WOW64 should be included in Server 2008 R2, note that it is optional in Windows Server 2008 R2 Server Core and would have to be installed first.

While technically, the product works, I've had some real problems with performance. See my post here:

Good Day everyone,
I know this is an older thread but wanted to verify that the latest version of FZ server will run on Server 2008 R2 ?

Will currently still run on Server 2008 R2 SP1 (NT 6.1). Will NOT run on Server 2008 SP2 (NT 6.0).
