I am currently researching several different SFTP server/client programs, i am a site Administrator of a world wide company, i am also the FTP admin for the entire U.S. side of the company. I have recently been informed that i need to come up and implement a SOX compliant SFTP solution for out U.S. side. i have messed arounf with FileZilla ftp server and client and really like the easy of use and configurability. What i cannot find out is, Is the FileZilla FTP server and Client software SOX compliant. (for those who don't know what SOX is) basically i have to ensure/gaurantee that files uploaded to my ftp server or on a secure pipe and encrypted. but there are certain protocols that SOX complaincy has to have.
Thank you to all who answer.

FileZilla Server does not support SFTP. But it supports FTP over SSL/TLS.
If you enable "force explicit SSL" or completely disable the standard FTP port and also enable "Force PROT P", it is guaranteed that all data is encrypted.

When you have it set as you mention here... does that cause the username and password as well as directory listings etc to be encrypted or just the upload and downloads?

If configured in this way, everything will be encrypted.
