FZ Server 0.9.39 beta Error, could not connect to server

#1 Post by DaleB » 2011-10-08 02:30

I installed Filezilla 2 days ago, did all that was required to Windows firewall, port forwarding in router etc and it worked fine. Yesterday, I started it up and got an error message. Eventually I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and everything was fine again. Today, as soon as I start Filezilla I am once more getting the error message which is:
FileZilla Server version 0.9.39 beta

I can't keep uninstalling and reinstalling and would appreciate any advice.

Did you set the service to start automatically? Because it looks like it's not running. The service is the actual server doing all the work, running invisibly in the background.

Thanks for the tip. Using the Windows Task Manager I could see that there was a service named "Filezilla Server" but it was stopped (how did that happen?). So, I started it and now everything works fine again. Thanks again.

Maybe it's set to start manually. There's an option in the installer to select. Or you can change it directly in the Service Control Panel (under Administrative Settings).

I uninstalled FileZilla, did a reinstall and this time selected the option to automatically start up with Windows. It's all working fine now.

Thank you very much for this information. I am really needing to connect to the server so that I can update the payroll processing website that I am working on. This experience has been really frustrating as it has been causing me to fall behind on my workload. I have tasks that are piling up waiting for my attention, so I really hope this solves my issue. It will be really nice to get things running smoothly again!
