FileZilla Server: User's can't browse their allowed folders?

#1 Post by nebulus » 2004-06-08 12:55

Hey guys. I got a used Dell PowerEdge 2400 last week, and of course, I'll be setting up FileZilla for my FTP ;)

Here's my drive setup: C is the main logical/OS drive, D is reserved for databases, sites, and SourceSafe data, and E is reserved for a file server and FTP. On the E Drive, I've got a folder "FTP" that includes a folder for each user, as well as a Pub folder.

My problem comes when I create users. For the users that will have full access to the server, I'm granting them access to C, D, E, the FTP directory, and the FTP folders in E. I'm setting their home directory to the E:\FTP

When the users login, they can see the FTP directory, but they have no navigation options at all - no parent directory, no options for other directories or drives.

Am I setting something up incorrectly, or is there a particular way to set this up? Thanks for the help!

Enable shortcut/link resolving and place links to the target directories into the directory where they should appear.
Those dirs will then appear to users with the name of the link file (of course only if the user has the permissions to view the target)

Excellent idea, thanks! Quick question though - how is it that the users can't see subdirectories in the FTP directory? When they login, they should be able to see the directories "Pub" and a directory named after their login.

Got it - I had "display relative path" checked, and once I uncheck that, it works. She's up and running now!
