Using MS command line ftp client

#1 Post by TDMedia » 2006-06-07 05:15

Hey there,

I'm having a problem with uploading files to my server from the outside world, but only with the command line ftp client that comes with any stock windows installation. FileZilla client, or any other "modern" clients seem to work fine, but for what I'm trying to do, I need to use some sort of command line client. Bear in mind - I CAN upload files with this client over the local network - just not from the outside world, and this problem only exists with Microsoft's command line ftp client. Is there a known fix for this problem, or is it just normal? Thanks for any help.

Microsoft's FTP tool doesn't support Passive FTP . That could be your problem if you are behind a firewall/router.

Commandline clients supporting passive FTP and scripting (I think this is what you want) are NcFTP or MoveItFreely.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like NcFTP will do just fine for what I need. :)
