Administration from a Linux System?

Is a web interface the only possibility of administration from a linux system? Or is there another way? Can the "Server Interface" program be run under WINE? Because that interface provides quite a bit more functionality than I think I'd be willing to code in PHP or the like (The user dialogue, for instance, is something I'd rather not rewrite.) Not to mention the level of control provided that extends far beyond merely adding users.

The server interface should work using wine.
