I got filezilla server set it up, forwarded the correct ports and configured everything. when connecting as a client to the server using my local network ip or 127.0.0.1 everything works as it should. but when I connect using my actual ip it get the error message : the connection to the server was reset. this makes me think its a port forwarding problem but I forwarded ports 20 and 21. Thanks for any help!
edit: I read somewhere that it may be a isp problem...

No it's a router problem. Connecting with your WAN IP (from your ISP) does only work from outside your router. Inside your LAN you have to use your LAN IP.
