Here are some very basic questions regarding secure connections that I'm hoping someone can help with:
1. Filezilla can connect to servers using FTP, FTP with SSL, and SFTP with SSH2. What is the difference between FTP with SSL and SFTP with SSH2? Is the data encrypted as well as the login with both?
2. The Filezilla Server has options for SSL, but I don't see any for SSH -- does that mean the client connecting to a SFTP with SSH2 server will be connecting to a non-Filezilla server?

1. FTP over SSL (FTPS) and SFTP are not only different types of encryption, they are different types of servers. SSH servers are found mostly in the *nix world.
2. Filezilla Server offers no Secure Shell (SSH) encryption.
Filezilla Client is designed to not only support Filezilla server, but as many as possible. You can (theoretically) connect to every RFC compliant FTP,FTPS and SFTP server. So yes, for SSH it has to be a non-Filezilla server.
