By default the FTP server runs as a service using the "LocalSystem" account on Windows Server 2000 or 2003. However, I need to access resources on the network using this server, so I need to start the service as a network user. When I do this I can no longer connect to the server using an FTP client or the admin interface. Is it possible to run this server as a different user, or am Istuck running it as LocalSystem?
Thanks

Look the service page in the Windows system management console.

I know how to change who the service starts as, but when I do I can't connect to the server anymore. Does the user need to have any special privileges or anything?
Thanks

Make sure the user has network access. Other than that, I'm not sure which rights are required.
