Network locations don't work from Groups

There seem to be a problem when you add a folder through a group that is not a local directory. Is this functionality intended or is this a defect?

I can add a network location on an individual users and it works fine. <- all security/access issues seem to not be an issue
I can add a local directory on a group and that works as well.
If I try to add the same network location on the group it does not appear.
