Firewall problem

#1 Post by dagr » 2007-04-22 09:59

I run the FileSilla server behind the Microsoft Windows firewall. I have added an exception for FileZilla in the firewall setup, but it doesn't work properly. Outside logins isn't admitted. Anybody have a tip howe to tune my firewall, so I don't have to turn it off when I was to run my ftp-server?

Hi Dude !

Got the answer of your question as I had the same problem !

1. Open up your Firewall and go to "Exceptions" tab
2. Click button "Add a program"
3. Browse to installation folder of FileZillaserver and point to "Filezilla server.exe"

See screenshot (i have french version of XP)

Thanx, very much. That did the trick! I thought I had made the exception, but the FileZilla Server interface exception was not enough, the filezilla.exe had to be added too.

You got it ;-)

You can deselect the filezilla server interface from the exception list of the Firewall, you don't need it unless you want to administrate your server from another computer...

“Could not retrieve directory listing”

#5 Post by refdk » 2007-05-14 18:49

I keep getting the error “Could not retrieve directory listing”.

I have added the Exceptions in the Firewall, I even added the FTP ports 20 and 21. I also verified that the pots are open in the router.

When I connect to the ftp-server from “inside” my network it works perfect but whenever I try from outside I get the following result:

Status: Connecting to 80.62.7x.xx ...
Status: Connected with 80.62.7x.xx. Waiting for welcome message...

Command:TYPE A
Response: 200 Type set to A
Command:PASV

I have tried to turn off the Windows firewall but that didn’t help either. I am close to give up. But we do use the FileZilla server on other servers with success. I have checked the setup with the other server but haven’t been able to recognize any differences in the setup.

You added the FTP data port range as well? Needed for Passive mode.

I also have this issue. I am now onsite for the client and still can't get the ftp program to work.

The response I get is the searching for directory...then cant find directory, but I am able to log in fine to the network remotely. The firewall settings are all set as well. It is a microsoft server.

- thanks

Yes I did try that but on my last reply it was not activated. I have now opened port 5000 – 5100 in FileZilla and on the router too. But I still get the error:
