#1 Post by Gundersau » 2007-04-25 17:47

Hey Guys,

i have the common 425 can't open data connection problem.
Background:
Server -->Firewall-->Router:fix iP -->Internet-->Router-->Firewall --> Client.

On ther Server side:
Filezilla Server: Use passive Mode, Custom portrange 5000-5100, use fix IP: blah blah

Firewall: Windows Firewall + zonealarm deactivated (not unistalled, though)

Router (Netgear v614): Ports 20/21, 5000-5100 forwarded to Servers Lan IP

Client Side:
Filezilla: Use passive Mode

Firewall: Windows Firewall + Zonealarm deactivated (also not uninstalled)

Router: Nothing forwarded

Funny thing though, active mode from the client and via web2ftp-service works

Thx botg,

already worked that one through, though.
I tried to deinstall Zonealarm on both sides, didn't help.
Without the firewall, the client should be fine in passive mode...
And the server is configured by the book. So is it's router...

And still, the funny thing is: the client side router is NOT configured for port forwarding or anything... but active mode works just perfectly :?

Ah, the joy of ninja routers. They just assume the protocol change data in it and transparently open ports. That obviously fails if using encryption or if using some protocol extensions. Consumer hardware... *sigh*

Everything that can load from a Linux Live-CD is far far better ;)
