Fresh Installation, Cannot connect w/ Localhost

#1 Post by zackaryl » 2016-11-23 21:01

My server has been shutdown for weeks whilst ordering a new Battery for the BBWC RAID card. When I got it and booted up, I could not connect to the server, over lan or wan. At first there was a question mark on the filezilla logo on the taskbar, then it disappeared. I disabled my firewall completely, re-did my port forwarding. Nothing fixed it. I decided to reinstall it (deleted settings) and now when it boots up, I get this message:

Code: Select all

Connecting to server 127.0.0.1:14147...
Error, could not connect to server
Trying to reconnect in 5 seconds
Connecting to server 127.0.0.1:14146...
Error, could not connect to server
Trying to reconnect in 5 seconds
Connecting to server 127.0.0.1:14146...
Error, could not connect to server
Trying to reconnect in 5 seconds
and it goes on and on.

In the setup, I was not asked to enter an admin password. this might have been the problem?

Check in Services Control Panel, if the server service (the invisible true server engine) is running. If it isn't then the Admin Interface cannot connect.

Sorry but I'm totally lost by your reply. Please supply instructions for dummies.

OK for whatever reason the PW was wrong, I re-entered my PW and now I connect but I now get "You appear to be behind a NAT router. Please configure the passive mode settings and forward a range of ports in your router. Warning: FTP over TLS is not enabled, users cannot securely log in"
I will admit I'm very much a novice in this area. What is a NAT?
I searched for NAT and get "Network address translation (NAT) is a method of remapping one IP address space into another by modifying network address information in Internet Protocol (IP) datagram packet headers while they are in transit across a traffic routing device." and I'm still lost. To me this is a bunch of words and I have no idea what to do. HELP!!!!

I found a video "FileZilla Port Forwarding" that I think is point me in the correct direction but I'm missing something critical. My router is a Netgear Nighhawk R7000 and I can log into it. I found the section "Port Forwarding/Port Triggering" I do see some entries for my Brultech electricity monitoring devices and I see that I can add a Server (it is looking for the IP address). Am I in the correct area? If so what IP address should I enter?
