Welcome Message Problem
Hi guys, I have a problem with a basic ftp client who does not like the welcome message. Is it possible to deactivate it on the server or force it to send a blank one?
Re: Welcome Message Problem
Sounds like a very broken client. There's nothing unusual in the welcome message of FileZilla Server.
You need to switch to a better client. If it already fails with something as trivial as a welcome message, imagine what happens if it actually does something more difficult, like transferring a file.

Re: Welcome Message Problem
Hello botg, thanks for the reply. The client I'm talking about is integrated into an automation system and I can't update it. I've tried to delete the welcome message from server filezilla options by entering a blank space with the spacebar and the client in this mode works fine. Unfortunately, every time the server restarts, the default message reappears and the client crashes during negotiation. Some tips?

Re: Welcome Message Problem
Hi Tim, I was wondering if it was not possible to make the welcome message setting permanent, even when there is only one white space (as in my case)? Explain ... Now, to help my client (as I explained) to download regularly from my server, I have to hope that the PC on which it is installed does not restart for some reason. In fact, if I stop and restart the server only, the welcome message setting remains set as I set it (with white space), but if the PC restarts, filezilla server loads the default message (and this Locks the client). Can I hope that in a forthcoming release there may be a button to completely disable the welcome message, or a wildcard like % blank% that inserts white space and did not reset when the machine was restarted? I hope so yes, because filezilla server is my referral ftp server and I would really be sorry to have to abandon it. Thank you very much in advance, bye.
P.S. I'm sorry for my bad english!

Re: Welcome Message Problem
It's a bug, the whitespace-only welcome message shouldn't have been accepted in the first place. I'll fix this in the next version of FileZilla Server.

Re: Welcome Message Problem
Hmm ... So then I can no longer use this trick to disable the welcome message? Or will there be another way to do it?
Re: Welcome Message Problem
Welcome messages are mandated to be there according to the FTP specifications, they cannot be omitted. Welcome messages, as useless as they are, have been around for over three decades, ever since FTP was specified.
It sounds like your automation vendor never even tested their FTP implementation against real-world servers. Did you try taking your automation system vendor to recourse for delivering a faulty product?

Re: Welcome Message Problem
I am using FZS 0.9.60 beta and FZ Client 3.29.0 and although FZS says it is sending the Welcome Message, FZC only shows "waiting for welcome message". Nothing I have tried fixes this.
edit: same problem with FZC 3.3.0

BILLYKIDD: How is this related to the original post? You aren't even using the same client software.
