FileZilla Server Suddenly Completely Stops Working

Hi All,

We're having this strange issue where on one of our servers (Windows Server 2012), FileZilla Server (0.9.45 & tried with 0.9.50 as well) suddenly stops working.

To be more specific, connecting from the FTP client from remote location or local 127.0.0.1 fails and ongoing transfers on FileZilla Server also just hang and transfer speed shows as 0 bytes/s.. It is also impossible to kill the service/process in CPU/task manager and the only solution for it is to reboot. Now reboot is tricky as it causes downtime on the server and running services.

Any ideas what could be causing this or steps to troubleshoot this further?

Please update to the most recent version of FileZilla Server, old versions are not supported.

We have considered that.

However the problem with that is one of the applications we use is using a CURL version that connects to FTP server via SSLv3, thus upgrading the filezilla server to latest version will break that integration for clients with that old version of the application.

Uninstall July Cumulative Update or install the Preview of next month. MS had a b0rked update this month.

Many thanks for your reply.

I don't have evidence to prove it is all fixed, but my gut feeling tells me this was it. You're a life saver, I have done the preview Windows Update KB 4338816 (as I had the faulty KB 4338830), I am hoping that will fix it, now it is just matter of wait and see...
