Same server, different transfer speeds
Hello FileZilla Community,
so we have a big problem. We are transfering files from Server to Server but the problem is that there are always some transfers which have a maximum speed of 400 kb/s.
Look at this screenshot (I deleted the file names)
The problem is that I am downloading these 4 files from the same server but some of them are transfering with full speed and some with 400 kb/s max to the end.
Did anyone experience this problem? Do you know any solutions to this?
We also tried to install FileZilla Server on my Server so that the other person can connect to my computer, but the problem still exists.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Same server, different transfer speeds
Try transferring fewer files in parallel.

Re: Same server, different transfer speeds
Same thing happens. Two files in transfer: One with full speed and the other one with 300 kb/s max. And this is driving me crazy
Re: Same server, different transfer speeds
Assuming n transfers:
T := sum(t_1 + ... + t_n)
a := T/n
So you want each transfer to be exactly a, even though T and a*n are identical?

Re: Same server, different transfer speeds
If I understood it right, then yes. But as you can see from the screenshot, some transfers are transferred at a maximum speed of 400 kb/s to the end. It is random whether the transfer runs at 300 kb/s or at maximum speed. And I just can't figure it out why this problem happens. There is enough bandwidth, that's not the problem. Both Servers have a speed of 1000 MBit/s.
Re: Same server, different transfer speeds
Well, I have that, too. Normal fluctuations. The slower transfers will speed up when the faster ones finish. Most important: Having the same speed on every transfer will not change the total transfer time at all (except if your line limits by connection). Every free transfer slot will be distributed between the others.
Noteworthy: The speed displayed is the average transfer speed over the elapsed transfer time so far. It will therefore not jump up rapidly when the transfer gains speed. Can be changed in settings.

Re: Same server, different transfer speeds
No, it's not like that for me ^^
The other guy transferred 16x 2gb files with 4 transfers at a time to my server. While 15 of them finished, the last one was still transferring with 200 kb/s.
The manual solution I found was to restart the FTP Server. Then it starts to transfer with high speed again.

Re: Same server, different transfer speeds
Are you using FileZilla Server as FTP server (well, as you posted into the FileZilla Server support forum)? If not, we cannot help you, as it seems to be the server.

Re: Same server, different transfer speeds
Yep, okay. Maybe it's time to switch to another Server. I think the problem is with the routing of the two datacenters. But thank you all!^^
