227 Entering Passive Mode - disconnections

#1 Post by el_sabio_ » 2019-02-13 10:22

FTP connections have become very slow and sometimes interminable.
In the log I see too many "227 Entering Passive Mode" and many disconnections occur.

My ISP gives me a speed of 600MB.

What can be happening?
I have disabled the firewall and the antivirus but I do not notice any improvement.

I have activated the

Number of threads: 4.

Internal buffer transfer, I have modified it: 524288

Socket Buffer size: 262144

I have FTP over TLS enabled
Unchecked box: Disallow plain unecrypted FTP.
Enabled Allow FTP over TLS enabled
990
Enabled Force PROT p ....
Enabled Require TLS Session ...

In Passive mode settings:
Enabled use custom ... 31100-31200

Use the following ip:
zzzz.dyndns.org

Enabled Don't use external IP for local ....

Some clients synchronize files on the ftp server with files of all types from * .doc to large files * .mp4
Any ideas?
Thanhs

Try using a much larger port range. Rule of thumb: #ports >= number of files transferred in 4 minutes.

Ok, I'll enable more ports.

I have a question, does the 990 port have to be open on my router?
I have never had it open and it has worked well for me.

And the port 14147? I do not have it open either.

Are the buffer speeds correct? Is there any magic formula?

Port 990 is for implicit FTP over TLS, which is deprecated as it has never been formally specified. If you haven't needed it so far you likely won't need it in the future.

Thank you so much for everything.
The only question that has not answered me is not important because fillezilla server works correctly although I am curious to know if modifying the buffer in miscellaneous, I will gain more speed or not. Greetings and thanks again.

You *can* get a speed increase if you raise the buffer sizes (very fast, low-latency connections). Please use values that are multiples of the default size (don't raise it in fractions). It is really trial and error here.

No risk involved, as you can always return to the default values.
