You can enable it in the settings dialog. If you do not have a certificate and corresponding private key you can generate a self-signed certificate in the settings dialog as well.

Invalid character sequence received, disabling UTF-8. Select UTF-8 option in site manager to force UTF-8.

How do correct this one?
Please

Could you please show a complete log from both the client and the server from when this is happening?

Not sure if this is new .. or just really long thread, but I just installed FileZilla Server for the first time - but cannot even connect with the Server Interface. I used all defaults; Port 14147, my own IP address, etc. but can't even get to it to configure.
Is there some trick fro the first install ??

What exactly is "my own IP address"? You MUST use localhost (or 127.0.0.1 or [::1]), as by default only those addresses work for configuration. LAN IPs, domain names, and external IPs are all considered remote administration and disabled by default.
