Throughput issue with simultaneous download/upload

#1 Post by RCIL » 2019-04-02 07:14

Hi,

We are running following version for FileZilla
3.4.12 client 32 bit
0.9.60 server 32 bit

It is observed if we do simultaneous download/upload then upload from client to server drops to 30% of the link transfer speed.and Download speed is good (80-to 90%) from client during this time.
Also during the independent download and upload there is no issue observed of throughput.

After checking ethereal capture observed the TCP window size is 1024 observed for upload from client to server. but download from client observed TCP window size 32768. our network vendor suggested to increase the TCP window size on server to resolve the issue.

Pls suggest how to increase the TCP window size on filezilla server to resolve the issue.

Thanks

How are the client and the server connected to each other? What's the reported latency if the client machine pings the server?

Hi,

The client and server connected via MPLS Layer 2 Ethernet Lease line 100Mbps bandwidth provisioned. No packet loss/ Latency issue on this link. Latency within 10 ms. if client pings server. Verified with Ethernet testing 100Mbps download /upload transfer rate simultaneously observed. Network level there is no issue.
Customer is reporting same issue and hence we tested with FileZilla observed same issue.

Did you take the window scale factor into account?

Does that mean at application (in perticular Filezila or whatever customer using for file transfer) no changes required.
and it is only at server operating system this needs to be done.

Pls clarity,
