If you are still using rotational media avoid transferring more than one file in parallel. The seek time of rotational media kills performance of parallel transfers.

Yes, I use HDD, but when downloading a single file, all the same. As if something is limiting speed.

@botg: Even conventional HDDs do not drop to such speeds, no matter what. He'd have to use a Floppy for that. ;)

Disclaimer: I cannot see the log.

Is it a hard limit, like, not jumping up and down? Then, it might be a limit by the ISP for FTP (or unknown) traffic ('traffic shaping). FTP isn't exactly loved by ISPs...

Oh, and, of course, transferring FROM your server uses your upload speed. Worth mentioning in a world of largely asymmetric internet speeds imposed by ISPs.

This is a hard limit. but this is not my ISP, my tariff is 100 mbit/s. And there are no problems with torrents.

The speed increased as soon as I turned on the VPN. This means that my Internet provider somehow limits the speed of the FTP connection, but if I transfer files inside the local network, the speed is also cut. This means all the FTP traffic that passes through the router is automatically limited to 20 KB.

Try a different router then.
