"Can't open data connection for transfer..."

#1 Post by southpaw32 » 2021-03-03 17:50

I'm working on setting up a server and client between my home and work.

The server is at my home.
I have Windows firewall rules for the listening port, and passive range ports.
I have router power forwards for the listening port, and passive range ports.
I have tried passive and active.
I have tried with and without TLS
But I cannot get past "Can't open data connection for transfer of "/""

I'm at a loss at this point.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Of course not. Your configured and forwarded data ports are actually worth nothing if the FTP client does not even attempt to use them.

You need to tell your client to use Passive mode.
No support requests over PM! You will NOT get any reply!!!
FTP connection problems? Please read Network Configuration.

Weird... I tested several times with both passive and then active and neither worked.

Of course now that you've posted that, and I test it with passive, it works.

Thanks for the help. No idea what the issue was before, but it's working!
