Can't connect to Filezilla FTP server hosted on Win10 PC from phone connected to the same LAN

#1 Post by awdrifter » 2021-04-18 06:47

Can't connect to Filezilla FTP server hosted on Win10 PC from phone connected to the same LAN. Windows firewall is off, antivirus is off, when I tried to connect to the FTP server from my phone using AndFTP, I get the Connection Timed Out error.

What does it say in the server log? Does your client have a log and what does it say?

I don't see anything on the server log, the client is AndFTP and it doesn't have logs.

1. Your phone is in the LAN/WLAN (has a LAN IP assigned)?
2. You are using the LAN IP of the server to connect? Domain name or external IP won't work as mobile providers usually don't support FTP.

1. Yes, the phone is connected to the same WiFi as the PC that is hosting the Filezilla server.
2. I'm using the LAN IP of the PC that is hosting the Filezilla server to connect, the server only shows the localhost IP (127.0.0.1).

Thanks.

the server only shows the localhost IP (127.0.0.1).
What do you mean by that?

Do you use the correct listening port to connect? The default one is 21, but if you set another port as listening port in the server settings (General), you need to specify it in the client.

Note that the admin port (14147) is not for client connections.

I mean that's the IP it has displayed on the title bar.

My understanding is that when I connect it from another device on the LAN, I would need to connect to my PC's LAN IP, not the 127.0.0.1. I tried that and it didn't work.

That's correct. Mine shows ::1 but that's essentially the IPv6 equivalent.

Also correct. And that should work.

What have you set in Setting - General for "Listen on these ports"? If it is not 21, you need to enter this port in your client, too (as unencrypted FTP always connects to target port 21 unless specified otherwise).
Did you change anything in IP bindings and /or IP filters?
