Is version 1.x in beta phase or is the cutback in functionality intentional?
The server seems to have much less options and visually more "rustic" than the 0.9.x version.
How can client machines now be provided with the public IP?
In version 0.9x there was a default "retrieve external address from" option http://ip.filezilla-project.org/ip.php. Now, when trying to connect from outside the LAN, the server returns the private IP and communication cannot be established.

You can enter a hostname that resolves to the public IP address.

Of course, provided one has such a hostname (e. g. the dynamic DNS URL).

It excludes the FileZilla IP retrieval service, as that one works differently.

Solved using DDNS URL.
