Hello,
the topic is about
FTP Server failover
FTP Server Backup
(if primary WAN is offline)
I have a local-filezilla ftp-server.
I have two WAN connections in the watchguard as multiwan failover.
vodafone is primary
colt is secondary
external partners use contoso.dyndns.org as "filezilla-ftp-serveradress"
Is it possible to have "HA filezilla" in other words: in case vodafone is offline like today, will ftp-connection will work like nothing happend?
I am not sure atm, how fast "dyndns-windows-client" would see a different IP.
It is no problem for the external partners, to use a "backup-up" in case of primary WAN problems.

Re: local-ftp for external partners, but two WAN connections
How long there is downtime depends entirely on the TTL of your DNS entry.
Re: local-ftp for external partners, but two WAN connections
Dynamic DNS usually has a very short TTL by intent, for quickly reacting to IP changes (AFAIK 60 seconds or less). The question is rather how quickly the DynDNS entry will be updated with the new IPs by whatever updater client you have.

What about setting 2 IP addresses for the DNS A record (DNS round robin).
Or is dyndns a must?
