Debian 11 and folders

#1 Post by jonnyfrm » 2022-07-04 10:58

Hello.
Comment first of all that I am a student of linux and filezilla server. After seeing several manuals I end up asking here.

I have managed to install filezilla server on Debian 11. I have created users 0001jf for example. From another computer I have managed to transfer files and folders. But...

I can NOT delete from Debian. Help.

The Debian user is xxx (KDE administrator permissions, user that I have installed filezilla server), not root. But xxx is supposed to be able to delete and create in the "Documents" folder. But the files uploaded by filezilla I can not delete or modify. User xxx cannot delete files uploaded by 0001jf

What am I doing wrong? I appreciate any help.
Thanks.

If the server runs as xxx, all files uploaded are owned by user xxx.

To delete files owned by user xxx outside of FTP, run the delete tool as user xxx, or as root.

Thanks for the prompt response.
As you say, that is logical. But it doesn't work, it gives me the following error (dolphin-kde):

"Acceso denegado a /home/xxx/.local/share/Trash/files/2180098393."

But the folder I'm trying to delete is in:
/home/xxx/Documentos/0001jf/

Thank you very much.

You are not attempting to delete the files, you are attempting to move them to a different location. What happens if you try to actually delete the file?

Thank you very much for the help.
But I've given up. As at the beginning of the installation and configuration of Debian I was creating several users. I have decided to start from scratch.

That has been the solution, a single user, kde and filezilla server from the beginning. And .... all good.

Again, thank you very much.
