FZ Server is extremely slow

Our server was using IIS's FTP server for the last couple of years, but I want to switch us back to using FZ.

I've read through several threads on the forums that talk about this issue, and in each case the recommendation has been to open ports on the NAT firewall.

Windows Firewall: ports 21, 1024-65534 open
FZ is allowed through as an application

NAT Firewall: ports 21, 1024-65534 open

Username and password happen right away, like you'd expect. Changing folders can take as much as 120 seconds. If I try to open a file to edit, it never downloads.

What am I missing? I've installed the latest version. Microsoft FTP Server is stopped. The Windows server has been rebooted.

Which FTP client (product and version) are you using?

Will do, but have to wait until after the work day, after 1700GMT-6. I was obliged to switch back to IIS and don't want to muck about with things while people are working.

It looks like the clients are having issues establishing the data connection in passive mode.

Could you please test your server on https://ftptest.net/ ?

Either the data connection ports are blocked in a firewall, or the ports aren't forwarded in your NAT router.

The ports are forwarded: IIS FTP works fine. The problem is specific to Filezilla.

Seems like the issue is MLSD, which, according to my research, isn't something I can do anything about.

There's 100% a firewall blocking ports or a NAT router not forwarding ports.

Note that IIS doesn't support FTP over TLS. With insecure connections it's entirely possibly that a rogue firewall or NAT router inspects the traffic and transparently opens/forwards ports.
