Hello,
We have two methods for connection, and both allow us access to the internet - we can reach the web etc... Figuring we had internet access, we purchased and installed Server for SFTP and now found out that when the customer tries to download it's not an vaild IP. So we used https://ftptest.net/ and it gives us this ->> You entered a private IP address. Those are not routed. If you want others to connect to your server you need to use a global address.
How do we get around this?
Thanks
Private IP

Re: Private IP
whatsmyip.org will reveal your public IPv4 address and whatsmyip.com will reveal your public IPv6 address. The EASIEST way to get your public IP address(es) would be to open those websites from a browser on the machine the server is installed on. The landing page for each domain will have your public IP address(es).
THEN (and most important) - you will need to figure out how to open ports on your routing device or firewall to allow the FTP traffic to pass through to your private LAN the server is sitting on.
(WAN) ==> [PUBLIC IP] FIREWALL/ROUTER [PRIVATE IP] ==> (LAN)

Re: Private IP
Please note that https://ftptest.net/ only tests FTP(S), it cannot test SFTP.
