Missing global server limits and other settings
Hi FZ,
I just migrated the old 0.9.60 server to version 1.8.
Already tried this back a year or so, but I was missing the wonderful hierarchy of limits and moved back to the old version.
Now I tested it again and sadly these options are still not available.
What am I missing:
- Global speed limit (max total of all currently active transfers) -> important because I do not want to limit my upload at certain times.
- Global user connection limit + option to bypass on group or user level -> avaoid to lock me out even if connection limit exceeded.
- User/group authorization for deletions
Would it be possible to implement it again?
Thanks in advance

Re: Missing global server limits and other settings
You can simulate global speed limits by having a group with the "speed limit shared by all sessions" set according to your own preference, and then have all users belong to that group. In the event you don't want a user to be subjected to those limits, you just don't have a user belong to that group.
The rest is currently not possible.

Re: Missing global server limits and other settings
Hi, thanks for your reply.
I have configured the following settings now.
Groups:
Limited Users: Download Speed from server -> 3000 + serveral virtual paths
Admin: Download Speed from server -> unlimited + additional virtual paths
Users:
I have figured out that multiple group assignments are now possible, which is great.
My admin user can access paths of both groups as expected.
But, I maintained membership: Admin > Limited Users
My expectation was, that now the download speed is not limited, because of the higher priority is the admin group. This is not the case.
Bug or feature?

Re: Missing global server limits and other settings
Feature. For each session, the session-specific and global speed limits of the user and each group the session is associated with apply. The speed is throttled accordingly so that no individual limit is exceeded.

Re: Missing global server limits and other settings
Sounds that I cannot confire my requirement (like it was possible in old version).
For which purpose is that priority (of groups) for then?

Re: Missing global server limits and other settings
Resolving conflicts for things that cannot apply simultaneously, for example two mounts with the same native path.
What you can do is to use separate groups for defining mounts and for defining speed limits:
Users are in the "standard mount" and "speedlimit" groups.
Admins are in the "standard mount" and "additional mounts" group

Thanks, let me try that

Re: Missing global server limits and other settings
Also, in the just released 1.8.1 version the sessions limit for the groups apply to said groups as a whole. You can use this to simulate the "global connections limit" you were looking for: just have all the users belong to a group with the sessions limit set to the amount you want.
