"server.exe /Compat /start" not working any more

#1 Post by thoste » 2024-01-26 13:23

In the past (a long time ago when I used the server part from filezilla the last time) I had to start the FileZilla Server with the following command

server.exe /compat /start

and the Serverinterface.exe

When I try to do this with the newest server version on Windows 10 I am getting

Unhandled option: /compat

Error. And serverinterface.exe does not exist any more.

I guess filezilla server API changed. So what is the corresponding cmdline command now?

Is there meanwhile an option to start background server/service AUTOMATICALLY when I start filezilla-server-gui.exe and core background server/services is currently not started?

If I start filezilla-server-gui.exe I get a Login dialog:

Host=localhost
Port=14148
Password=?

What password do I have to enter here?

How can I change/reset it?

To start the server as regular process, just start the executable. To start the server as service, go e.g. through services.msc

If you forgot the administration password, re-run the installer to change it.

So is there really no way to reset the password?

I cannot believe that.

How can I at least re-generate and assign (a new) certificate WITHOUT re-installing whole Filezilla Server?

There are many ways to reset the administration password on the server, @botg suggested you'd use the most straightforward one.

You can regenerate certificates via the Administration Interface.
